After an American prisoner of war Nicholas Brody, a U.S. Marine Sergeant, captured in Iraq since 2003 is rescued 8 years later during a Delta Force raid on the compound of a major terrorist Abu Nazir, Carrie Mathison, a Central Intelligence Agency operations officer who was warned by an asset in Iraq that an American prisoner of war had been turned by al-Qaeda believes that Sergeant Brody is the turned American prisoner of war her Iraq asset warned her of.

With the federal government and her seniors considering Sergeant Brody a war hero, She must do all she can, disobey orders, go solo, cross boundaries, break rules to investigate and prevent terrorist attacks on American soil.

Homeland is a multiple award winning TV series;  2012 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, 2012 and 2013 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama, Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Damian Lewis and Claire Danes respectively.

The series first season was premiered on October 2, 2011, second season was premiered September 30, 2012. The series has been renewed for a third season which will premier on September 29, 2013.
